Heart Cath and Babies First Care Ride!
I enjoyed our time in the CCU. It was quiet. It was an opportunity for us to get use to taking care of Xavier. We had no major set back, all in all it was positive. On June 20th, Dr. Goldberg came in to talk about discharge. He told us that in the past few months they have started to do heart cath on HLHS babies before they go home. It is there way of being proactive. They can take care of little things within the heart before they become major things. So we were going to have the cath and then we would be on our way to NJ.
The cath went as planned. They found nothing wrong with his heart. He ended up needing another blood transfusion after the cath because of the sedation, but that was it. We were given the clearance to dress our baby and head home. I pretended to be super excited...but I was scared and just wanted to stay in the hospital. I was so worried that I would do something wrong. I had no clue how to take care of this baby. Alison, our interstate case manager reassured me that I would be fine and she would be there every step of the way to help me. I was fine...she was there..it worked out beautifully.
All dressed up and ready to go home!!!!
